Jeff Berthelsen remembers getting his first dog in kindergarten, and has loved dogs ever since. Dogs were always a part of the family, and now he shares that love with his wife Sandy, and two sons Tyler and Tony. The whole family also enjoys hunting and fishing.

Jeff got his first hunting dog at age seventeen. He then worked for a professional trainer for free to gain knowledge as to how to train his own dog. He worked with the trainer for seven years, and along the way trained dogs for others as well, not professionally, but for friends. In 2002, Jeff gave up his manufacturing job in Iowa, moved back to southwestern Minnesota and started training dogs full time, and has been doing so ever since. Over the years he has trained somewhere around 800 dogs, using his 'no-pain' approach. Working for other trainers and using electronic collars, Jeff gained the perspective that dogs need to be trained the 'old' way first, by being shown and taught, only with the possibility of using the collar as a tool later for reenforcement. He operates on the strict principle of positive reenforcement only. His philosophy is this: "Collars don't train dogs; people train dogs."

After graduating from the American Institute of Taxidermy in February of 2011, Jeff is now offering taxidermy services as well.
